Mardi Himal Trek – The Best Private Annapurna Region Trek

Mardi Himal is situated in the Annapurna region of the Himalayas and is a freshly opened trekking path. For a short trek in the Annapurna Region, the Mardi Himal Trek is one of the best. This Mardi Himal Trek isn’t yet as popular as others in Nepal it tends not to be as crowded. A perfect trek to enjoy the serenity.

Mardi Himal Trek Description

This 7 day package starts from Pokhara so it is perfect for those in the Pokhara region looking to do a short trek. If you are are starting and ending from Kathmandu, you need to add 2 days to the itinerary because it takes around 7 hours to bus to and from Pokhara.

The path is winding but quite easy and the view from bottom camp is outstanding. The path takes you a short distance to Mount Machchapuchhre. The Mardi Himal Trek offers everything you would expect of a Nepal trekking experience including native culture, majestic forests, craggy rock scapes, and broad views of the Nepali landscape.

The Mardi Himal trek offers an attention grabbing view of mountains such as Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Annapurna I, Annapurna Fang, Gangapurna, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchhre. During this trek, you are able to get to the highest possible point (4,100m / 13,451 ft) in such a short time.

The trek on to Mardi Himal Base Camp takes you to Phedi, about 15 kilometres from Pokhara. From Phedi, the trek starts ascends for about 30 minutes to Dhampus. If you are short on time, this trek can be adjusted to start and finish at Siding (1,750m / 5,741 ft). This would mean missing out on Dhampus, Pitam Deurali, and Forest Camp – arguably the best parts of the Mardi Himal Trek.

Mardi Himal Trek Level

Mardi Himal Trek 8 Day Trek is considered Demanding and a good level of fitness and trekking experience is strongly advised. In a scale of 1 to 10, the Mardi Himal Trek is rated 7.

The safety of the support team and yours on every trek is our highest concern. All treks, strenuous, Demanding and Easy are all treated and planned as an expedition.

Altitude Sickness

The term Altitude Sickness is used often but there are intact 3 types of Altitude Sickness. The most common is actually Acute Mountain Sickness – or AMS for short. AMS becomes a real threat when ascending at altitudes of 9,000ft or more (roughly 3,000 m).

AMS comes into effect usually because a trekker or climber ascends too quickly. As the air become thinner, there is less oxygen available. Your lungs need time to adjust in order to carry much needed oxygen to the different parts of your body.

All Ammonite Adventure treks over 9,000ft (3,000 m) include rest days – known as acclimatization days. Read more about altitude sickness »
